Twitter Testing Stories With “Fleets”

Have you ever noticed that stories on social media seem to have slowly made their way from one social media network to the next? 🤔
Snapchat was first, then Instagram, Facebook, and Youtube… The list goes on! 😱 It seems like although the nature of ephemeral content is temporary, the concept is here to stay.
The latest to test out a stories feature and jump on the bandwagon is Twitter. 🐦 Their take on ephemeral content called “Fleets” is now being tested in several countries before being rolled out globally.
Some key points about Fleets:
1️⃣ Fleets disappear after 24 hours.
2️⃣ Fleets can’t receive Likes, Replies or Retweets (Shouldn’t it be a Refleet? LOL) like regular tweets.
3️⃣ Fleets do not show up in search, moments, and cannot be embedded on external websites.
4️⃣ Users can post videos up to 2 minutes and 20 seconds ⏰ in length. Some publishers will be able to publish videos up to 10 minutes in length.
We’re hoping to see Fleets being rolled out to North American users soon! 🙌
What do you think – will Fleets breathe some new life into Twitter, or is it too little, too late? Let us know in the comments. 👇
