Extra! Extra! Google Maps launches a Local News Feed

Extra! Extra! Read all about it! 🗞 Google Maps is rolling out a news feed called “community feed” that is said to double the exposure of Google My Business posts. 🙌

The feed is meant to help local businesses (particularly food and drink merchants) share updates with their community. This could be especially useful for letting your customers know when you’re offering a new service or having a limited time special/ sale. 

Users can search for updates based on location, tailor their feed based on their interests (such as ‘healthy food’ or ‘Indian cuisine’), like posts, and follow businesses. 

You can find the community feed by swiping up on the Explore tab in the Google Maps app. (Keep in mind that this feature is relatively new, so the feed is currently a bit lacking content-wise. We’ll keep an eye on this feature to see if it gains traction with local businesses and Google Maps users in the coming weeks!) 

Our advice: If you’re not posting Google My Business updates, it’s time to add this platform to your social posting routine! 

Not only could this new Google Maps feature give your posts more exposure, but Google My Business posts could also help boost your search ranking. Why? Consistently posting on Google My Business shows Google that your business is legit 👍. Greater authority = higher search rankings!
