Check Your Google Analytic Tags
If your Google Analytics Tags aren’t working, you may be missing out on important information that could help you optimize your website and your marketing campaigns. For #TipTuesday this week, we’re going to show you how to check them!
The first way to see if your analytics tags are working is by checking your Realtime reports. Navigate to the Analytics property you have added an analytics code snippet to. Under reports in the left menu bar, click the drop-down on Realtime and select “Overview”.
If you’ve only added the snippet to the property (website) recently, there’s probably only one view on the website right now (you). The fact we can see a visitor means your tags are working!
If that method doesn’t float your boat, there are other ways to check! Download the Google Tag Assistant Chrome Extension from the Chrome web store.
Tag Assistant enables you to record a user’s journey on your site, and then see a report of all the hits sent during that journey and whether there were any errors associated with sending those hits to Google Analytics.
The report associated with the hits will alert you of any errors or potential issues that may exist with your analytic tags. Use this to help troubleshoot your tags!
