When Should You Post on Social Media?
The time that you post content to your social media accounts can have a large impact the overall performance of each post. Think of it this way, if you post when no one is online, who is going to see your content?
Generally speaking, if no insights are available, statistics show that the best time to post is between 9 am and 11 am.
Every audience is different. We need to determine when out when the majority of our audience is online.
1) If you are one of the admin on a Facebook page, you have access to the insights tab. If you navigate to your businesses Facebook page, click on the Insights tab at the top then click on the “Posts” category on the left. You will see a graph labelled “When Your Fans Are Online”. This tells us which days our users are online and the peak time for each day.
2) Instagram is very similar to Facebook. If you have an Instagram Business account, you will have access to the advanced analytics. On mobile, if you navigate to your page then tap the three bars at the top right, you can access the insights menu. If you navigate to the “Audience” tab and scroll down, you will be able to see the activity of your audience by date and time.
3) Unfortunately, Twitter’s insights dashboard cannot tell you when your audience is online, but there is some helpful data to help you determine when to post. If you navigate to the analytics section, then click on the audience tab, there is a chart of the regions your followers are in at the bottom. If you can time your tweets when your largest regions will be online together, this will maximize the exposure.
4) LinkedIn’s insights dashboard also lacks an hourly feature. But, with the analytics, if you look at your impressions over the span of a week or month, you can determine which days you are getting the most impressions with your posts. This will help you determine which days are the best to post content on LinkedIn.
