Facebook Tests New Neighbourhoods Feature
Won’t you be my neighbour? 🏡Facebook is testing a new ‘Neighbourhoods’ feature meant to better connect users to others in their community.
Luckily for Calgarians, Facebook has chosen the city of Calgary as the guinea pig for this new feature! This means that those of us living in Calgary get a sneak peek before the feature potentially rolls out on a larger scale.
Considering the fact that Facebook local groups have been steadily increasing in popularity, it’s no shocker that Facebook is striking while the iron is hot. From a marketing standpoint, this could create a huge opportunity for local businesses!
Facebook has stated that it may use ‘Neighbourhood’ activity to show users hyperlocal/more relevant ads. For local businesses, this will likely mean better location targeting for your Facebook ads, allowing you to reach the customers who are most likely to purchase your products or services. It also allows your business to organically connect with with the people in your community.
